Guava BBQ Sauce (Salsa BBQ de Guayaba)

This Guava BBQ Sauce (Salsa de BBQ de Guayaba) is delicious on grilled meats, grilled vegetables, used as a dipping sauce, marinade or as a glaze. Ready in 15 minutes!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup guava paste cut into cubes
  • cup apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 3 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ cup water
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Add all the ingredients to a small saucepan over medium heat.
  • Bring to a boil and then lower heat to a simmer. Cover with a lid and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • When the sauce has reduced and thickened, taste for salt and pepper, adjust if needed. Turn off the heat and allow the sauce to cool for a few minutes.
  • Use or transfer to a jar after it has cooled completely and refrigerate for up to one week.

Notes

Recipe Notes:
If you do not have smoked paprika, you can use regular paprika or 1 teaspoon of liquid smoke.
The BBQ Sauce will last stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
To make this sauce spicy, add a pinch or more of cayenne pepper.
