Ingredients

  • 3 pounds boneless pork ribs with some marbling rinsed under cool water
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • your favorite barbecue sauce

Marinade

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dry oregano
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • ¼ cup yellow mustard
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

Instructions

Prep the Ribs

  • Rinse your ribs under cool water. If you like, cut them in half or keep them whole.

Make the Rib Marinade

  • In a mixing bowl, combine all the spices, mustard, and hot sauce. Mix with a fork until it forms a smooth paste.
  • Rub the mixture all over the ribs, making sure every piece is well coated.

Prepare the Instant Pot

  • Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the Instant Pot. (If you’re using chicken bouillon: dissolve one bouillon cube in 1 cup water by microwaving for 1 minute, then stir well.)

Arrange the Ribs

  • Place the Instant Pot metal rack inside the pot. Lay the seasoned ribs on top of the rack in a single layer. Close the lid and lock it in place. Turn the pressure valve to sealing.
  • Set the Instant Pot to cook on high pressure for 45 minutes.

Release the Pressure

  • When cooking is done, let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then carefully finish with a quick release.

Add the Barbecue Sauce

  • Remove the ribs and place them in a bowl. Add as much or as little of your favorite barbecue sauce and a splash of broth from the Instant Pot. Mix gently with a large spoon to coat.
  • Serve ribs with your favorite sides.

Stove Top Instructions

  • Rinse the ribs under cool water and follow the instructions above to prepare the marinade.
  • Rub the marinade all over the ribs, making sure they are evenly coated.

Sear the Ribs

  • In a medium to large pot, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the ribs and sear them on all sides until lightly browned.

Add the Broth

  • Carefully pour in the chicken broth. Cover the pot and cook over medium heat for 1 hour.
  • After 1 hour, check on the ribs and gently stir them with a fork. Cover again and continue cooking for another 45 minutes, or until the ribs are very tender.
  • Remove the ribs from the pot and place them in a mixing bowl. Add as much or as little of your favorite barbecue sauce as you like, along with a little of the broth the ribs cooked in. Mix well to coat.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite side dish.

Notes

Recipe Notes:
Chicken broth: Substitute chicken broth with 1 chicken bouillon and 1 cup of water if you do not have chicken broth.
Buying boneless ribs. Buy ribs that have fat marbling throughout the meat as these will produce the best fall apart rib recipe. Avoid ribs that are very light pink and completely lean, with little to no fat. These cuts will dry in the cooking process.
