    This instant pot recipe is by far the most hyper delicious shredded beef recipe ever! Plus it’s ridiculously easy to make too!

    Pop a few ingredients into your instant pot and 50 minutes later, you will have the most tender shredded beef you have ever had to use in a variety of dishes!

    Ingredients

    • 1-2 pounds rump roast, chuck roast, beef round roast
    • 4 garlic cloves, whole
    • 1 teaspoon cumin
    • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
    • 1 bay leaf
    • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
    • ½ teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon paprika
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup beef or chicken broth
    • 1 jalapeño, cut in half
    • handful fresh cilantro
    • 2 tablespoon oil
    • lime, cut into wedges

    How to Make Shredded Beef in an Instant Pot

    1. Rinse beef. Season with salt and pepper on both sides.
    2. Add the oil to the instant pot and set it to the Saute setting.
    3. Add the beef and sear on one side. Flip over and sear on the other side.

    1. Turn instant pot off and add the beef or chicken broth.
    2. Stir in all the spices, jalapeño, garlic cloves, bay leaf, crushed red pepper and fresh cilantro.
    3. Put lid on.  Steam release knob should be set to “sealing.”
    4. Cook on manual setting at high pressure for 50 minutes.
    5. Once instant pot beeps that it is done, allow pressure to release naturally.
    6. Remove beef from pot and shred with two forks.

    Shredded beef round roast returned to instant pot to soak in its own juices.

    1. Bring shredded beef back to pot and stir.
    2. Use a quarter slice of the lime and sprinkle beef with lime juice.
    3. Keep shredded beef warm until ready to use in any dish of your choice.

    Stove Top Instructions

    To make this yummy recipe on the stove top simply…..

    1. In a mixing bowl, add spices and broth. Mix well with a fork.
    2. In a medium size pot, add oil and heat over medium high heat.
    3. Season beef with salt and pepper on both sides.
    4. When oil is hot add whole beef roast and sear on all sides.
    5. Add spices with broth and top roast with the cilantro, garlic cloves, bay leaf and jalapeno.
    6. Lower heat to medium and cover pot with a lid.  Cook roast for 2½ – 3 hours. (Check roast in between cooking to make sure broth is not evaporating). If so add a little bit of hot water to pot and continue cooking.
    7. Once beef is done, remove from pot and place on a cutting board.
    8. With two forks, shred beef.
    9. Add shredded beef back to pot and stir well with broth.
    10. Use a quarter slice of the lime and sprinkle beef with lime juice.
    11. Serve beef in recipe or dish of your choice.

    Instant Pot Shredded Beef for Meal Prep 

    1. Cook beef as per recipe.
    2. Allow beef and liquid in pot to fully cool.
    3. Add all the shredded beef to a plastic freezer bag or container with liquid broth from pot. (Or divide beef into two  separate bags to make two meals.)
    4. Freeze beef.

    When ready to use…

    Defrost meat on counter top for 30 minutes.

    OR

    If making a meal with the shredded beef the following day, simply defrost bag overnight in refrigerator.

    Reheat beef in a skillet or microwave and serve in your favorite dish.

    Ingredients
