This Avocado Margarita cocktail recipe is a revitalizing, refreshing and delicious drink. Ready for Cinco de Mayo or BBQ grill out, it’s perfect!

Avocado Margarita served in a silver cup.

Not everyone is about tequila and not everyone likes margaritas.  But for those of us that do, an Avocado Margarita is quite refreshing.  With Cinco de Mayo just a few days away, I wanted to share this delicious, refreshing concoction with you.  So if you were wondering what drink to make this Cinco de Mayo, or simply wanted to add to your cocktail menu, here it is.  Or maybe you just would like to try something new and quite different from all the other Cinco de mayo cocktails you have made in past celebrations.  Whatever the case, you may just fall for this cooling and revitalizing drink.

With a few simple ingredients, you can make this avocado margarita.  You will need some avocados of course!  Some tequila, of course (although, you can make your avocado margarita a virgin version if you like).  Okay so let’s continue, an avocado, tequila, triple sec or any orange liqueur, a jalapeño, fresh lime juice, agave nectar (optional), sprigs of cilantro, some salt and ice.  And walla!!  You have yourself an Avocado Margarita!

    Ingredients for Avocado Margarita

Now if you are interested in learning a little more about this Mexican holiday, take a look at this post….

Now there are a few things you should know before you give this avocado margarita a go.  One, if you don’t like avocados, well you know, DON’T make this cocktail!  Two, if you don’t like Tequila, DON’T make this drink.  If you don’t like cilantro all that much, DON’T use it in this cocktail or add less of it!  Same thing with the jalapeño, if you don’t like heat, just add a slice of jalapeño to give it flavor but not much heat.   So, there you go, those are some simple guidelines for you.

Another suggestion I have for a Cinco de mayo cocktail or for my beer lovers, is the traditional Mexican Michelada.

Mexican Michelada served in a beer mug with cocktail shrimp beside it in a bowl.

Here are some traditional cinco de mayo Mexican Appetizers or food suggestions to accompany your cocktails:

I hope you enjoy this Cinco de Mayo as much as I will!
