Chuzos de Carne or Chuzos de Res (Beef Kabobs) are a delicious Colombian food marinated in delicious Latin spices, beer and garlic. This is a must make recipe! Hurry while the grill is still hot and warm weather is still here!  😉

Chuzos de Carne served with curtido on a white platter.

These Chuzos de Carne or Chuzos de Res are delicious Colombian beef kabobs that I wish I could make a few times a week! Love Love these beef skewers!

In Colombia you will find vendors that set up their street carts and grills ready to serve the anticipated crowd that awaits after a night out on the town.

Really they are ready anytime of the day!

You will find these vendors selling grilled beef, chicken and pork chuzos as well as other delicious yummy food.

Why? Because it is simply a fun and savory food enjoyed by everyone!

Traveling to Colombia, chuzos will always be my first go to treat, every single time!

    Chuzos are just delicious!

    Chuzos are Also Known As…

In other Latin or Spanish speaking countries, chuzos are known by different names.

For example, In Ecuador, these are call “carne en palito” which translates to meat on a stick.

In Puerto Rico, chicken and pork skewers are call “pinchos.”

Spain calls their pinchos, chuzos, “pinchos en moruno.“

In Bolivia, skewers are known as “anticuchos.”

However, in Peru, “anticuchos de carne.”

While in Mexico, they are known as “brochetas” or “alambres.”

Whatever term used, you can pretty much guarantee a delicious yummy treat on a stick!

    Marinades for Latin Skewers

With all the different names that chuzos are known throughout, will also come all the many ways to marinade them.

My Colombian friend has always said to me that one thing all chuzos in Colombia have in common is, beer.

As for her, she not only likes adding beer, she also likes to sometimes instead use red wine in her marinade.

    She exclaims, sometimes both! 😄

Note: If you are worried about using wine or beer to marinade the beef, alcohol evaporates in cooking and simply is for flavoring.

So today I will be sharing with you a simple and delicious marinade to season your chuzos and elevate the delicious beef flavor to a whole other level, perfectly every time!

So with summer reaching its end here, there is no way I can go without making some chuzos de carne!

    Thank you Colombia!

Okay, before we continue, lets talk about one more thing here….

    Serve Chuzos de Carne With

Serve Chuzos de Carne on their own, YES, because they are that tasty and delicious!

Or serve with different dipping sauces such as my:

    Super Easy Jalapeño Salsa

    Avocado Cilantro Sauce

    Avocado Salsa Verde

    Hyper-Delicious Tomato Jalapeño Salsa

and for a spicier salsa, (😉if that’s what you prefer!) try my…Habanero Tomatillo Salsa

*Besides a salsa, consider adding and serving chuzos de carne with a “curtido salsa” (a pickled blend).

"Curtido" (Tomato and Red Onions Pickled) for the chuzos.

*I simply marinated thin red onions, tomato slices with cilantro and lime juice.

    It’s that simple!

For another delicious curtido version, consider this spicy curtido pickled cabbage slaw by Patrick!

Okay, now onto our yummy simple ingredients….

Beef strips marinating in a bowl to make the chuzos de carne.

Skewer beef onto wooden or metal skewers.

Note:  Soak wooden skewers in water for 20, 30 minutes to help skewers from burning….not a necessity but certainly helps depending on your heat source!

Okay here for the next step, cooking time, you have two options:

You can grill on a gas grill, on a charcoal grill using briquettes or my absolute favorite….lump charcoal.

Cook Chuzos for 7 minutes on one side, flip over and cook for another 7 to 10 minutes.
