    What are Tostadas?

Tostadas are a Mexican classic that have always had a very close and dear place in my heart.  And If somehow you have never had them or come across a delicious tostada, then your palate and eyes are surely bound to be opened after you make these!

Tostadas are basically a flattened crispy taco layered with delicious toppings.

Anything from ground beef, shredded beef or chicken, seafood, or made completely vegetarian.  The possibilities here are endless!

Then topped with more delicious toppings! Some of the basics include tomatoes, shredded lettuce and sliced onions.

Lastly, a tostada is always topped with a savory sauce!

All these yummy ingredients put together enhance the flavor of a tostada as a whole!

    Absolute yum and so versatile!

So all in all, you’re looking at about an hour between prepping, cooking and assembly of tostadas.

It takes me longer to prepare my Arroz con Pollo (Puerto Rican Chicken and Rice) and my Habicuelas Guisadas (Puerto Rican Stewed Beans)! 😄

While shrimps are seasoning, prepare the Tomatillo Pico de Gallo and Jalapeño Tartar Sauce.

    Tomatillo Pico de Gallo

    3. Rinse and de-stem serrano or jalapeño pepper.
    4. Chop the tomatillos, onion, pepper and cilantro and place all in a mixing bowl.

Now finish preparing and cooking shrimps. (Continue to follow my Camarones Empanizados recipe)

Once shrimps are cooked and drained, it is time to make the tostada shells.
